Speaker’s profile
Kenichi Nakashima is currently a senior staff member in the Commerce and Industry Policies Division of the Fukuoka Prefectural Government. He was involved in the establishment of the Fukuoka Ruby Business Hub Promotion Committee in 2008. From 2004 to 2008, he worked in Fukuoka Prefecture’s Taxation Division where he developed the government’s electronic tax payment system. Prior to joining Fukuoka Pref. Gov in 2004, he worked for a private IT company.

In 2008, through collaboration among industry, academia, and government organizations, “the Fukuoka Ruby Business Hub Promotion Committee” was established as an organization to promote the Ruby and the development of software using Ruby. The goal is to support small and medium businesses in the growing IT industry in Fukuoka Prefecture. Mr. Nakashima will talk about how the Fukuoka Ruby Committee, with participation of major IT companies all around Japan, will facilitate the development of new business across the borders and the growth of Fukuoka as an international hub for the software industry.
