Speaker’s profile

Daniel Bovensiepen is currently employed by Siemens where he has developed software for the last nine years. Since three years he is involved in the development of high frequency radios for train control and public data systems which are used in mass transit projects. In 2000 he discovered Ruby – which is now a tool he is using to solve various problems occurring in business and private related projects. During the last four years Daniel Bovensiepen was living in Germany, Italy, Denmark and China. And he is always very excited to visit Japan.

Metros using Ruby

Presentation outline

During the last couple of years Siemens had built a new kind of train control system for metro lines. Daniel Bovensiepen was involved in the development of the ubiquity radio for this system. This talk will cover the use of Ruby to develop, produce and deploy a radio system for such a project. It will show the combination of Ruby and other open source tools for rapid development of prototypes, to increase the on-shore rate of hardware production in China and supporting the analyzation of hugh amounts of data.
